ISU Libraries is excited to offer a professional development course intended to empower secondary teachers in ALL disciplines. Research is an essential element of education in the development of life-long learners. Students will become citizens, members of professions, and role models; the ability to learn and probe an issue or develop a skill independently should be encouraged and facilitated through the school system.
Best developed in a sequence of simple to complex learning activities and research projects, this two-day course focuses on creating manageable research assignments, guidance in selecting topics, locating and accessing sources, evaluating the credibility of sources, and documenting/crediting the source of information. This course aligns with Standards 3 and 6 of the Common Core curriculum.
Date: Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10, 2019
