How do I search for information on my topic?

  1. decide your keywords--write out a question or statement of what you want to explore, and highlight the key terms

Example:  What are the normal nutrition needs for athletes competing on the college level

      2.   put and between each concept group of keywords

  nutrition and college and athletes

    3. list any synonyms (and related words used in the same context) under your keywords

Example: 

nutrition

athletes

college

diet

swimming

university

 

water polo

higher education

 

 

NCAA


   4. Put or between synonyms and put (parentheses) around the synonym phrase

Example:  

(nutrition or diet)


   5. Link keywords and related terms using a combination of and or


Example:  (nutrition or diet) and (college or university or higher education or NCAA) and (athletes or swimming or water polo)
