Announcing ISU Open Education Week, February 22-26

by Unknown User on 2021-02-12T15:57:00-07:00 | 0 Comments

Idaho State University Libraries, in partnership with ASISU Student Government, ITRC and the ISU Cultural Events Committee, present ISU Open Education Week 2021!

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are openly licensed so everyone has permission to retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute them.

To promote OER on campus, ISU Open Education Week consists of both faculty programming and a student awareness campaign on social media, and will run from February 22-26, 2021.

Student Awareness Campaign

Students, how do you handle textbook costs? How do textbook costs affect you? Share your textbook stories and enter a drawing for a $50 Visa giftcard!

Valid entries are posts that share personal textbook experiences on Twitter or Instagram that use BOTH hashtags #TextbookTales #OpenEdISU. The library’s social media accounts will reshare and amplify your stories. No social media? Want to stay anonymous? You can also submit via our Textbook Tales form.

For full details and drawing rules, see our OER student advocacy page!

Faculty Programming

Textbook Heroes LogoISU Open Education Week presentations are for faculty interested in exploring OER!

Research shows that adopting OER in courses leads to greater student success. But did you know that open education benefits faculty members? Adopting OER in your courses can increase your instructional freedom and help transform your pedagogy.

Please join us for a week of programming around Open Education, and learn why and how to adopt, adapt, or even author OER for your courses. Programs will feature ISU Textbook Heroes who have inspiring OER success stories to share, and helpful tutorials from University Libraries and ITRC staff.

See our website for program descriptions and livestreaming information, or contact KristinWhitman@isu.edu or DaphneTseng@isu.edu with questions. We hope you can join us!
