College of Philosophy at ISU
Department of English And Philosophy
Studying English and Philosophy provides students with excellent preparation for professional employment in any area where the close examination of written texts and the ability to write is important. We take special pride in working with students to connect their immediate studies in our department with their long-term goals. Our goal is to promote clear and innovative thinking, skillful writing, and intellectual engagement with key ideas in our fields.
Department of Philosophy
Philosophy examines such topics as the nature of reality and being, the ways that knowledge is acquired, and the bases for ethical choices.
Students in all disciplines gain from studies such as these, which can contribute greatly to their general education as well as to their personal enrichment and fulfillment. Many students inspired by introductory courses go on to complete a degree in the field.
