MLK Day of Service is Monday, January 18, 2021

MLK Day is observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off.” King recognized the power of service. He famously said, "Everyone can be great because everybody can serve." Observing the Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday through service is a way to begin each year with a commitment to making your community a better place. MLK Day of Service encourages all types of service (learn more). Projects build communities and seek to meet immediate needs of local community members. Idaho State University Libraries is closed on Monday, January 18 in honor of  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We invite you to participate in this year's #MLK Day of Service.

Still looking for ways to participate?

  • Honor Dr. King’s legacy all year. Use King Day to find an organization you’re passionate about and make a commitment to serve with them year-round.
  • Organize your family and friends to engage to do your own service project – safely. Clean up a nearby park or deliver care packages to isolated neighbors.
  • Make a donation to a local organization in need.
