Nand is an artist and a mathematician and states that he "juggles these two passions - sometimes successfully, sometimes not so successfully." Nand enjoys the process of painting as well as that of mathematical modeling. These twin passions balance his analytical and intuitive sides, which he believes are important for living an authentic life. Thus, Nand expresses feelings by painting them as they are – no tricks, no overworking – just honest feelings expressed simply.
Nand is a self-taught artist and began painting at an early age. Growing up, painting was a joyful and passionate activity that he pursued alongside his studies in science and mathematics. He works mainly in watercolors for its sublime, ethereal quality; but lately, he has also started working with oils to explore a more realistic expression. Nand has successfully exhibited his art in India and the United States; his last exhibition was at Colorado State University where he also earned his Ph.D. in mathematics. Currently, Nand resides in Pocatello with his wife and an eight-year old son, and enjoys hiking, playing soccer with his son and spending time with family and friends.
