SPAN 3381 Hispanic Current Events: Find Books

Searching Library Catalog

Search Library catalog for print and online books, journals, reports, media, etc. HINTS:

  • If you don't know author or title of the book, start with a Quick Search using words/phrase describing your topic.
  • Make sure you typed the word correctly: library catalog search will return no results if word is misspelled.
  • You can limit results by location and publication date.

Always look for Location, Call Number and Status:

Once you found a book in a library catalog you decide you like, check Subject(s).  For example:

  • Latin America --Politics and government.
  • Latin America --Relations --United States.
  • Mexico --History --Revolution, 1910-1920.
  • United States --Foreign relations --Mexico.

When you find a book on the shelf, browse in the area to see what else is there on the same topic. Our catalog uses the Library of Congress classification system, an alphanumeric system which groups books by subject categories.
